The Forget-Me-Not Project: Building a Dementia-Friendly Community

Every person deserves to move through public spaces with confidence and dignity, enjoying simple everyday moments alongside loved ones without hesitation or worry.

This belief lies at the heart of The Forget-Me-Not Project, a community initiative by PPB Properties and Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM), developed to foster greater inclusion, awareness and empathy; establishing Megah Rise Mall as an inclusive, dementia-friendly retail space.

Named after the delicate Forget-Me-Not flower, a globally recognised symbol of dementia awareness, the Project represents remembrance, compassion and the promise that no one should face dementia alone. It reflects PPB Properties’ commitment to creating places that not only serve communities today but continue to support them through every stage of life.

Aligned with the UNSDG Goal 11 which aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive safe resilient and sustainable, the initiative reflects PPB Properties’ commitment to creating people-centered spaces that serve all generations. It translates care and understanding into practical, everyday changes that create benefit for the wider community.

Understanding Create Inclusion

Dementia may affect memory, communication, judgement or sense of direction. As a result, some individuals may occasionally appear uncertain, take a little longer to respond or find navigating new surroundings more difficult. These are all natural aspects of living with the condition.

In recognition of these experiences, PPB Properties has introduced a range of thoughtful measures at Megah Rise Mall designed to offer reassurance and support whenever needed. When visitors notice the Forget-Me-Not identifiers, dementia-friendly wayfinding or trained mall personnel, they witness PPB Properties’ dedication to making Megah Rise Mall a space where everyone feels welcomed, valued and supported.

Through awareness talks, guided training and ongoing engagement, PPB Properties invites shoppers, partners and neighbours to join them in building a more inclusive community where no one feels left behind.
